การติดตั้งง่ายดายเพียงยึดกับกระจกด้วยอุปกรณ์ให้มาพร้อมในกล่อง และนำสายเสียบเข้าที่จุดบุหรี่ก็สามารถใช้งานได้ทันที นอกจากนั้นยังสามารถนำไปใช้ภายนอกรถได้เพราะมีแบตเตอรี่แบบชาร์จได้อยู่ภายใน สามารถนำมาต่อกับคอมพิวเตอร์เพื่อถ่ายโอนข้อมูลได้ด้วย ในส่วนภาครับสัญญาณ GPS ใช้ชิป MTK ที่มีความไวสูง ทำให้การใช้งานในเมืองดีกว่ารุ่นก่อนๆ

 
 
nuvi 200 ยังเป็นเครื่อง GPS นำทาง เครื่องคำนวณเงินตราและมาตราส่วน เวลาทั่วโลก และยังดูรูปภาพดิจิตอลได้อีกด้วย ในเรื่องความปลอดภัยของเครื่องมีระบบ Garmin Lock เพื่อกันขโมย โดยระบบนี้เครื่องจะไม่ทำงานหากไม่ได้ ใส่รหัส 4 หลัก หรือนำเครื่องไปยังตำแหน่งที่กำหนดไว้ เครื่องจึงจะทำงาน

จุดแตกต่างที่สำคัญของ nuvi 200 กับ 3xx คือเล่น MP3 ไม่ได้ ไม่มีช่องต่อเสาอากาศภายนอก ไม่สนับสนุนการทำงานของระบบแปลภาษา
